glad you got there safely and all that, mashallah! i hope the chaos treats you well. two things:

1. your nieces are really quite adorable;
2. i wish you all the luck in the world in dealing with people who end up "getting in your grill constantly"

that is all. now go eat some of that sour, oily food i hear so much about.

Thanks Balbir, hope your trip to the east coast is going well. And I hope Seattle is much better than how I left it. It seems I brought the rain with me here in the Philippines. Right now outside I can hear the level 2 typhoon (don't worry it's not that big a deal). As for your points.

1. I agree!
2. I'm trying to deal with it, and it's not like they are nosey, but the kids have way too much energy.
(3.?) The food here is great, albeit, oily/salty/and not as sour as I thought. What is really great here however are the deserts and sweet marienda. It seems that I'm eating something new every 2 hours. They always just place it in my hands. It's great and delicious! I'm totally going to get diabetes soon.
