Transients stay here...

So I finally scratched that itch to get out of the city and headed north. My goal is to see Vigan, the Mestizo parts especially. But on the way I decided to check out Baguio and some of the Cordilleras (rice terraces and whatnot). So yesterday I went to Baguio and the night life there is crazy. There are so many people in Baguio, I feel that it truly rivals Manila (at least in terms of crowds). In fact I've never seen this many people concentrated in one place in Manila. Indeed if they were this concentrated, they seemed to not be moving at the same pace as Baguio: fast! Still, the baguio stories, along with the pictures will have to wait until later. This morning I left the fast paced acoustic guitar capital of the Philippines and headed to Sagada. For some reason, I ended up in the very front of the bus and saw every single fast turn and near miss the bus achieved on our 5 hour drive from Baguio to Sagada. Below is a brief snippet of what I experienced. I'll talk about the coffins later. Tomorrow: Bontoc.

Now I am really jealous. The scenery looks fantastic. I look forward to seeing more, especially from Sagada and Bontoc. Enjoy traveling through the Cordillera Allan and I anxiously await seeing all your photos and listening to your stories when you return to SEattle!

don't be Jealous Jon, you're definitely going to be here this time next year. I'm sure a lot of research can be found here. I didn't get to go to Banaue, but I heard there's museum there by that famous anthropologist couple. I forget their names. Anyway, while I was in Bontoc totally kept thinking about the EULOGY and especially about your research. I'm definitely jealous my research doesn't cover the "igorots". Anyway, the usb here isn't working so I guess I'll post pictures when I get back to Manila.
